My Etsy shop!

1 min read

Hi everyone! :D Been a while since I wrote a journal on here or an update in general! I have just restarted my Etsy shop and posted my first print on there so please check it out. Forgive me as I am still a noob when it comes to the digital art world so since I have just discovered a straight forward technique to colouring or fixing a scanned sketch overall has inspired me more to create art! My little shop of all art related stuff : by KVigoArt on Etsy Hope everyone is safe and healthy during this crazy time. -Iistel X

#LoveisLove

This month is for the LGBT community or as they call it Pride or Gay Pride, I can say that I am a supporter of it even though I am a Roman Catholic and had a very religious upbringing but I TRULY believe that being a true Christian or Catholic; you gotta give some good/caring humanity deeds to the people around you in order to get respect back as well. The people of the Pride events even welcome people who aren’t even in the LGBT, so they deserve our welcome too.

I stand by the phrase, “Treat others as you would like to be treated” cause if you don’t, how are we all going to get along you know? I don’t have any dislikes for the Christian/Catholic community, like if some want to continue disagreeing with the act of Homosexuality then they can but there are some who are forceful and do everything to change one person’s sexuality.. that for me goes borderline or abandons them, even throws abusive words as well. Then that doesn’t make you a true religious person. I believe, our role as religious individuals is to be nice/respectful and most of all; open minded. Like God created us, to love one another as a FAMILY so there are people where they don’t like these kinds of act then therefore they abuse this teaching we’ve grown to know and use strong hard words or even bullying to make these harmless individuals change their minds and start anew. This obviously doesn’t work and is totally unnecessary, because being who you are is not a CRIME and I just hope some people out there realize that.

I have so many close friends who are in the LGBT community, and it hurts me to know the struggle they’ve been through just to get where they are now; happy and out there like it shouldn’t be that hard but sadly it is. So when I see news of young ones to adults being bullied or just rejected cause of them finding a new chapter in their lives. I feel the pain from my close friends who’ve been through that you know? That sucks. Its also about true friendship actually cause that’s your role to be there to support them through it.

One of my closest friends A, we’ve been inseparable since college and we’ve both learnt so much from each other. Most of all, we’ve learnt to respect on whatever happens in one’s life and decisions. We’re opposites in terms of the way we were brought up yet we manage to meet halfway or even all the way in our differences and its amazing.

Actually, have to mention another friend who me and A actually know from the same class in college. We were given a task to create a piece that we are enthusiastic about therefore I did a piece that featured three wooden boards into making an image of the Holy Rosary with Mother Mary in the center. On the other hand, he did the opposite in making a piece related to Atheism. But did I say anything against it? No, of course not. I had the right to, but chosen not to cause I know that I have the ability to give respect to what they want create artistically. Did he say anything to me? Yeah and it was a positive note, saying that he likes that I’m respectful of his work and he as well is respectful of mine.

I’ll end this post. by saying R.I.P to the victims of Orlando’s Pulse nightclub tragedy x

Been busy this Summer, had an exhibition held at the house garden that consisted of new work under the SUMMER theme, 12 pieces in total. It was open for two days, few people came on the first day but the next day was better. The next day was better since I managed to sell 3 pieces, I made the prices affordable as well!

Then as weeks went by, managed to sell even more then and now left with just 4 pieces. Three are reserved for people who are still yet to receive and one hasn't been ordered.

After that I started to receive requests for commissions, like a birthday present for someone although I received a number of commissions from people before this exhibition happened.

Right now, I've been updating blogs such as this one and publishing a website so people can have more sources in ways to see my work and contact me if they have requests. I remember back in school, I wouldn't want to sell my art pieces because they were such a big value to me of course but now I realised something else that if I want to make a living by doing this then might as well sell to earn an income, right? ^^

They say, sell the original piece cause the value of it will become higher in the future and of course sign it hehe. I'm also doing my best to save the income that I have received till I get back to Uni.

Speaking of Uni, going back for my last year/3rd year this coming Monday. Goodness, it's nearly over o.O. But yeah, I'm struggling whether to do a dissertation aka super duper long essay or practice meaning an exhibition again. MEH, we'll see. Need to get a better understanding of it when I get back, when they explain it to us.

But for now, that's all I have to say :D

p.s I found out that the whole time I think I was doodling shapes, lines and repetitive patterns is actually called ZENTANGLE. Goodness.. it's annoying when you think you made something up but BOOM, it already exists. Oh well, some of my "doodles" include text so I guess it's kinda modernized? ah blah.. I'm still going to continue doing these.

Uhm, laters!

Filipino spirit

2 min read
Us Filipinos, no matter whatever crisis comes at us. Nothing will ever stop us from getting back up and smiling. Even though we lose everything, we’ll still be here standing up and continue living like nothing ever happened.

This year of 2013, the country has went through so many struggles. First, the pork barrell scam then the nonstop shooting in Zamboanga, after that it was the earthquake in Bohol which destroyed so many famous places. Lastly and the recent one is the Yolanda (Haiyan) typhoon or storm surge which is named to be the strongest storm of the year in the whole world. This storm washed out many areas in the Visayan region like Bacolod, Negros Ocidental, Roxas City, Iloilo, Capiz, Tacloban city and a few more.

Tacloban City has been in the news mostly though, the amount of damages that’s been done is devastating. People lost their loved ones, like one person who struck me the most was this woman who lost her parents, her sibling and she had her child with her during the typhoon but the child got swept away from her arms. Can you imagine being in her position?

Despite all of these struggles, they’re still there standing like still fighting through it. People all around the world are starting to realise how strong our spirit is as a Filipino that they didn’t realise before.

We say, “bagyo ka lang, pinoy kami!” Meaning, its only a storm, we’re Filipino!

Well, as you've seen from my latest submits here in my gallery of "New Art of my Own". There are drawings mostly done with just the medium of pen like normal black biro that I think most people won't use, right? I've decided to challenge myself to use a different technique. I also realized that I'm better in drawing with pen actually, haha other people have realized it too it's pretty cool. What I like drawing with pen, is that there's a lot of depth to it when you shade you know? It's  a lot different from drawing with pencil, for me. ;)

But one of the disadvantages of using pen, is that you can't erase unless you have Tipex aka white pen, and that it can run out of ink unexpectedly so you have to go over a piece of scratch paper and scribble constantly then go back to drawing lol, but despite all that, it's all worth it..

TRY IT Y'ALL. :P
